Description

The role of smart home energy management systems in optimizing residential energy consumption and promoting efficient energy utilization is of paramount importance. This paper proposes a data-driven smart energy management system utilizing the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) approach. Primarily, the problem is formulated by devising energy management algorithms that encompass a diverse range of devices with distinct functionalities, including photovoltaic (PV) systems and electric vehicles (EVs), within the framework of an intelligent domicile energy management system. The algorithm employs a multitude of hyperparameter combinations during the modeling phase to establish multiple models, subsequently selecting the most optimal hyperparameter combinations by closely scrutinizing characteristic values and their specific performances within the system. Finally, the paper addresses the modeling of optimization challenges pertaining to smart homes and develops a home energy management algorithm based on PPO to minimize electricity costs while simultaneously prioritizing consumer comfort.
