On 29 May 2017 in Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) took part in the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Lëtzebuerg Launch Event to showcase its expertise in the digital skill assessment and training.
Coordinated by the Luxembourg Institute for Digital Training (LIDIT), the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Lëtzebuerg strives to develop concrete measures through active involvement of many partners in order to foster digital skills and competences to all levels of the economy and society. Moreover, the National Coalition pledges further coordinated actions to identify and share best practices by connecting different stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
As partner of LIDIT, LIST hosted a booth to present its activities and a selection of innovative technologies. In this context, the institute presented relevant assets for the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and construction sector. LIST experts, Dr. Eric Ras and Dr. Alexandre Baudet, promoted LIST technology Cross Skill® and its approach to the wide audience and also to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Labor. LIST’s booth featured how Cross Skill® technology, a computer-based competency self-assessment tool, can help people to efficiently self-assess required or acquired digital skills.
In addition, LIST organized a workshop in the afternoon animated by Dr. Sylvain Kubicki. It addressed the challenging questions of the new digital skills to be expected in a near future in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) as well as Facilities Operation and Maintenance (OM) industries. In this framework, the competency matrix resulting from the BIM4VET European research project were presented, as well as the roadmap related to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Energy Efficiency skills, which will be addressed by the recently launched BIMEET project.
It was an excellent opportunity to explain how LIST can offer solutions to challenges implied by the Digital Skills promotion and development needs.
