On Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, 2016, LIST took part in the Researchers Days at the Rockhal in the district of Esch / Belval, at the heart of the Belval Innovation Campus.
Among the thirty proposed activities and the more than 120 Luxembourg researchers mobilized during this event to raise public awareness of science, LIST proposed two workshops and a “café scientifique”, which were a great success. In addition to sensitizing visitors to the tailor-made demonstrations for the occasion, LIST researchers, interested in sharing their passion and knowledge, were able to engage in fruitful exchanges with children and parents.
At the workshop "Robots under control", about interacting with machines / robots thanks to the tangible natural interfaces, more than 300 players were able to try, using their gestures, to do Move small robots on a tangible table. These robots have been fully created and built within the LIST laboratories (electronics and 3D printing of the structure), as well as tangible reagents embodying actuation (movements and returns of light) and wireless communication. The integration of the different modes of interaction, such as, recognition of gestures and tangible objects followed by the table with computer were fully demonstrated.
On the second workshop "Pollutants and chemicals contained in water, removed! " LIST researchers focused more specifically on water and pollutants / chemicals, using augmented reality technologies and a water treatment system created for the occasion. Finally, a team of researchers proposed a “caféscientifique” around the new materials.
>> You will be able to meet LIST researchers again on November 2017, not for the Researchers Days, which should be held in 2018, but for the 11th edition of the Science Festival!
