LIST laser activities

Welcome to the online research portal featuring the laser based research activities at the Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology.
Our research aims to utilize state-of-the-art experimental techniques from the atomic, molecular and optical physics (AMOP) realm to help solve complex problems of the aerospace, plasma science & engineering and other disciplines. We make use of:

  • in-house built, advanced, non-linear laser diagnostic techniques such as coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering (CRBS) to thermodynamically characterize gas and plasma flows;
  • precisely frequency tailored optical lattices to alter the velocity distribution function of neutral and charged species;
  • optical tweezers to isolate and study particles;
  • resonant laser diagnostic techniques such as Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF), coherent Anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS), Resonantly Enhance Multi-Photon Ionization (REMPI) for the characterization of all states of matter;
  • advanced optomechanical sensors for aerospace metrology;
  • anything else involving light and light-matter interaction.

We are always interested in new physics/experiments/applications involving light and matter in all phases so make certain to contact us if you wish to discuss your research idea!
