LIST celebrates 200 years of metrology in Luxembourg

Luxembourg celebrated 200 years of legal metrology on 1 December 2016 at Technoport, Belval Innovation Campus. As part of its activities and expertise in the field, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) participated in the event, together with more than a hundred guests. The public and private sectors from health, industry, the environment, commerce and services were present and able to interact with the exhibitors about different topics for which a wide variety of measuring instruments and techniques were presented to the public.  

During the afternoon, Etienne Schneider (Luxembourg Minister of the Economy), Jean-Marie Reiff (director of - the Luxembourg Institute for Standardisation - ILNAS), Philippe Kadok (Bureau Luxembourgeois de métrologie - BLM), Prof. Olivier Francis (University of Luxembourg), Dr Martin Milton (Bureau international des poids et mesures - BIPM) were present and gave presentations.

Among the exhibitors illustrating the involvement of metrology in all sectors of the economy were OLAS laboratories and the Luxembourg Red Cross, ILNAS, Lux Control, Europe Quality Luxembourg, IBBL (bio-bank) and CREOS. 

Dr Jenny Renaut presented LIST's Environmental Research and Technology Platform and Dr Marc Angotti introduced LIST's Materials Characterization and Testing Platform to the participants who visited LIST's booth. Visitors had the opportunity to discover a wide range of uses of high-tech performance instruments for the research and development of new materials of the future, and in the field of environment for biogas measurements.
