LIST ranks on “Top 60 Non-profit Research Institutions and Government Agencies Granted U.S. Utility Patents” in 2023

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) has been recognized as one of the leading non-profit institutions in Europe for its contributions towards research and innovation. In the recently published ranking by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), LIST secured the 59th position among the “Top 60 Non-profit Research Institutions and Government Agencies Granted U.S. Utility Patents in 2023”.

“This achievement serves as a testament to LIST's continuous efforts in translating scientific discoveries into tangible solutions,” said Dirk Fransaer, CEO a.i. at LIST. “By securing utility patents, LIST has demonstrated its ability to transform cutting-edge research into practical applications that have the potential to revolutionize various industries.”

The “Top 60 Non-Profit Research Institutions and Government Agencies” list is a new ranking launched by the NAI as a complement to the “Top 100 Worldwide Universities” list, published annually since 2013. According to the NAI, it has been created to highlight the role non-profit research institutions and government agencies play in advancing innovation around the world and driving the global economy.

Out of the 60 institutions featured on the list, only five other EU institutions were recognized for their patent activity. “We are honoured to be included among the top non-profit research institutions in the world and in Europe. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our researchers and solidifies LIST's position as a key player in the European research landscape," concluded Fransaer.
