Space Open Doors at LIST

 

Join us for the Luxembourg Space Night on June 28, an unforgettable evening dedicated to the wonders of space!

On this occasion, we open the doors of our Belvaux premises and invite you to dive into no less than four space research activities conducted by our Remote Sensing and Natural Resources Modelling group:

• Radar Remote Sensing: Discover how the Global Flood Monitoring (GFM) system improves flood responses with near real-time global monitoring capabilities using radar imagery from the Sentinel-1 satellite.
   
• Satellite Internet of Things: Explore how IoT, 5G, and satellite technologies enhance precision agriculture, particularly in remote areas. Demos include a crop and drought monitoring app using EO and IoT, and direct IoT-to-satellite communication.
   
• Thermal Remote Sensing: Learn about the use of thermal drone images to assess water stress in agriculture. Live demonstrations will showcase applications in viticulture and forest research.
   
• AI4EO: Discover how artificial intelligence enhances the analysis of Earth observation data from satellites and drones, supporting various environmental applications in maritime surveillance, urban planning and disaster recovery.

About Space Night

At the "Space Night" event, which takes place on 28 June and is organized by the Luxembourg Space Agency, space companies based in Luxembourg open their doors to the general public. This special night features a diverse array of activities  throughout the country, ensuring that everyone - whether space enthusiasts, curious students, or families looking for a unique outing - can experience the wonders of space exploration up close.

This research group conducts impact-driven research to monitor, forecast, and predict environmental systems using data from satellites, airborne platforms, and in-situ measurements.
