Cycling as a Transport Mode - Meeting of EU Transport Ministers

On 7 October 2015, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) will have a booth at the first informal meeting of Transport ministers dedicated exclusively to cycling as a transport mode, hosted by the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union.

Researchers Romain Gaasch, Eric Tobias, and Saad Nabbi will use a tangible table to demonstrate a sustainable mobility scenario developed by LIST, as part of an exhibition in the Conference Centre alongside a number of other organisations focused on transport, health and cycling including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC).

Taking place in the European Convention Centre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, the event will begin with introductions by Minister Bausch, European Commissioner for Transport, Violeta Bulc, Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism, Michael Cramer, and Secretary General of the European Cyclists' Federation, Dr. Bernhard Ensink.

Following presentations by Minister Bausch, Jan Gehl, a renowned architect and urban design consultant, and Mikael Colville-Andersen, urban design expert and cycling advocate, discussions will focus on creating a "Declaration of Luxembourg" on cycling as transport in the EU.
