The smart waste collection market is attracting considerable attention given its importance in making cities more eco-friendly. However, existing decision support systems generally rely on a limited information flow and often offer a static or statistical approach, focusing on specific use-cases such as individuals or municipalities.
LIST and Polygone Sárl are co-designing, building and testing a smart waste collection platform for businesses. The platform will offer data analytics and multi-objective optimization models that combine business, customer and operational criteria among which data generated by fill-level sensor technologies integrated into waste bins. Fill levels, distances, customers’ needs/constraints, truck capacity, time management for drivers and collection centre position are considered to reduce the environmental impact and to maximize service quality. This approach, a first in Luxembourg, will open the way to the development of new services in the waste management sector.
How it helps?
If you want to know more, don't miss the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona on 19-21 November. LIST will present the smart waste collection platform along with other solutions to empower citizens, businesses and public authorities.
