Decision-making support technologies

Within the framework of the World Efficiency international trade fair held from 12 to 14 December 2017 in Paris, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) highlighted its innovative technological solutions allowing for support of decision-making in the logistics and lifecycle evaluation domains.

Housed within the Luxembourg Pavilion installed by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, LIST raised awareness amongst suppliers of solutions and decision-makers present at this international event as to the economy deprived of resources and carbon. It notably highlighted several of its successes.

- Solutions developed within the framework of the European project "Sustainable Urban Consolidation CentrES for conStruction" (SUCCESS) which it coordinates. - These solutions, which are intended to improve the transportation chain in the construction sector, specifically allow for a simulation of the impact of various policy measures relating to sustainable development on one or more construction projects, self-evaluation of one or more construction projects allowing for determination of the measures likely to be the most effective for sustainable construction and a cost/benefit analysis allowing for estimation of the viability of a consolidation centre for one or more construction sites in a given city.

- The environmental evaluation tool OASIS which allows for production of cleaner drinking water by facilitating the eco-design of drinking water production stations through an integrated approach involving simulation-optimisation and Lifecycle Analysis.

- The solution currently developed within the framework of the European project «Mobility Urban Values» (MUV) which will allow decision-makers to improve planning processes and citizen hackers to create new services capable of improving the quality of life in cities in a more effective manner.

In addition to its stand, LIST also offered its expertise to visitors by coordinating a workshop entitled "Sustainable supply chains in a circular economy" focused on material efficiency, the circular economy and smart cities. For almost two hours, around twenty participants could discover how information technologies support the transition towards sustainable mobility and logistics, while a tool was presented, allowing for evaluation of the sustainability of circular supply chains in steel and aluminium.
