LIST represented at BuildingSMART in Barcelona

On 3-6 April 2017, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) participated in the BuildingSMART International Summit in Barcelona (ES). A great opportunity for our experts in Building Information Modeling (BIM) to present LIST’s ongoing and future activities at the largest event related to standardization and deployment of BIM in Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) industry.

BuildingSmart is originally devoted to the development of IFC standard, the open format for BIM, adopted by the whole construction industry and associated software editors. In the recent years the association expanded its activities to promoting BIM, e.g. accompanying public owners, governments, as well as designers and contractors in application of BIM in a wide range of processes related to design, construction and operation of built facilities (i.e. buildings, infrastructures and districts).

LIST participated in particular in sessions related to “BIM for construction” (i.e. Construction Room) in the framework of 4DCollab research project and Smart Construction Planner development. Moreover results and progress of the BIM4VET project have been presented in the session related to “Professional Certification Program”. The BIM4VET competency matrix is considered by the BuildingSmart association to prepare future standardized certification schemes for BIM training.
