Visits of two renowned Chinese Space Centers

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) was pleased to welcome two Chinese delegations between October 23rd and 27th 2017 at its premises.

The visits were organised by the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy and was of high interest for LIST’s experts in Smart SPACE as they discovered the innovative activities of both centres and also, were able to present the laboratories and challenging research projects ongoing at the institute.

The Academy of Space Technology delegation

Representatives of China Academy of Space and Technology (CAST) were visiting LIST on October 23rd 2017.

The CAST delegation led by Pr Huang Jiangchuan (Project Manager of the Asteroid Exploration) and Ms Zhang Yinan (Deputy Director of CAST International Relations Division) met the Material Research and Technology (MRT) Department and the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) Department officials, opening discussions on future collaborations on space programs.

The Chinese National Space Science Center delegation

On October 27th 2017, LIST welcomed a delegation from the National Space Science Center (NSSC) of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in China, together with two representatives from the Directorate ICT and Space Affairs – Luxembourg Ministry of Economy.

LIST’s experts from the ERIN and MRT departments who participated in this meeting presented how at LIST, we pool our skills, our know-how and our cutting-edge infrastructure to improve the performance of materials used in space and to develop new services based on satellite data. The aim of the visit was to promote cooperation and common research activities. Indeed, a topic that has been discussed during the visit was the creation of NSSC’s research laboratories in Luxembourg.
