LIST participating in week-long European Space Expo open to the public

The European Space Expo, a travelling exhibition that aims to highlight European space technologies and policy, will be on Place Guillaume in Luxembourg City from 16-25 October, 2015. It offers a variety of exhibits and daily talks, including two by researchers from the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

  • "Space technologies to support flood management", 18:00 on Tuesday 20 October: LIST researcher Patrick Matgen will present new methodologies developed by LIST for extracting hydrology-related information such as soil moisture and flood extent from satellite Earth Observation data. The integration of satellite derived information into numerical predictive models helps improve the accuracy of flood forecasts. A collaborative tool to visualize and analyze upcoming flood threats on a multi-layered responsive map using a tangible table will be showcased.
  • "Agriculture from Space", 17:30 on Thursday 22 October: LIST researcher Martin Schlerf will introduce some of the basic principles of land observations from space and highlight examples of the latest Earth Observation techniques for agricultural applications including precision agriculture and crop stress detection.

Completely free and open to the public, the Space Expo has already visited many cities around Europe. Be sure to take a look while it's in Luxembourg!
