The Heat2Power Workshop will present the results of the project, including a demonstration of the Heat2Power™ tool on July 4th 2023 in Belvaux (Luxembourg).
Supporting the conclusions of the Paris Agreement, ArcelorMittal set itself the target to be carbon neutral by 2050 and to reduce its EU emissions by 35% by 2030. To reach these targets, the deployment of alternate solutions improving the energy efficiency will play a central role.
In the framework of the National research fund - funded project Heat2Power, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology and ArcelorMittal Long Products Luxembourg collaborated to address waste heat recovery for steam and electricity production. Methods of process integration, considering production constraints encountered in steelmaking, combined with economic calculations, were set up to select the best waste heat recovery, transfer and valorisation schemes. These approaches were then structured as an optimisation software to maximise electricity generation for a whole plant, taking into account both steam and low temperature organic Rankine cycles.
While the presentations will also be accessible via Teams, physical attendance is encouraged, as the attendees will have the possibility to test the tool at the end of the workshop.
