Conference on materials research

Prof. Dr Jens Kreisel, director of LIST's "Materials Research and Technology" (MRT) department, held on March 12^th a conference on materials research. The conference was organised by the University of Luxembourg within its series of lectures entitled "Les Jeudis des Sciences".

In his presentation, Jens Kreisel introduced the world of materials: What are materials? What are Key Enabling Technologies (KETs)? He then provided an overview of R&D done in Luxembourg and illustrated it with three concrete examples: nano-world and microscopy today, atoms, and the effects of pressure. He finally addressed the issue of "smart" materials.
