We present an exploratory investigation on the use of multilayer network concepts and metrics to quantitatively analyse enterprise architectures. Multilayer networks can be used to visualise the overall architectural design and perform analyses across layers within elaborate architectures. Preliminary results are presented and discussed based on a case study in the Smart Grid, which is modelled using the Smart Grid Architecture Model (SGAM). The SGAM representation is later on mapped onto a multilayer network notation that allows visualising the overall structure of the architecture as well as computing quantitative metrics. We conclude with a summary of insights and open issues to be addressed.
