Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies
The Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies team of engineers, researchers and technologists combine their expertise to translate the enabling capabilities of nanotechnology/nanomaterials into application-driven solutions. Based on the thorough understanding of the functional properties of novel functional materials, the unit conducts research, development and innovation in the areas of:
- Multifunctional ferroic materials tackling multiple challenges from the fundamental comprehension of ferroic oxides, e.g. towards the rapid prototyping of piezoelectric devices
- Transparent semiconductors and optically tuneable nanocomposites addressing the dynamic growth of invisible electronics or colour-based applications in the glass, display, sensor and consumer industries
- Nano-enabled advanced technologies for the medical and cosmetics industries including diagnostics, prosthetic devices and drug delivery systems
